Safeguarding welfare of workers in risky environments

Safeguarding the welfare of workers in risky scenarios

Assist your employees and contractors to feel safe at work with 24/7/365 lone worker safety monitoring requiring them to log in upon arrival on site, estimate the time the job will take and log out when the job is done.

Check-ins and escalation processes that ensure the security of workers in the field

Live safety monitoring

Have employees or contractors working alone, or in hazardous locations, log in, log out, extend time or advise of any changes via phone calls we answer for you.

Emergency escalations

If the worker fails to log out by the specified time, an escalation process kicks in to ensure emergency assistance is with them ASAP if they cannot be reached.

Customisable protocols

You can advise whether attempts to contact the worker should be made initially if they fail to log out or whether an alarm should immediately be raised with their supervisor or externally.

Critical information summary

How our lone worker safety monitoring service works

Customised set up

Tell us how you’d like us to handle calls and the escalation process to be followed if a lone worker fails to log out at the expected time, including who should be alerted.

A worker logs in

By having employees or contractors call a dedicated number associated with your account upon arrival on site, our receptionists will know the call relates to your lone worker service and answer appropriately.

After confirming that they are logging in, the worker will be asked to provide their location, name, phone number and an estimated timeframe that they’ll be on site. They will also be provided a reference number and advised to call back to log out or change details as necessary.

If a worker calls back

On subsequent calls, the worker will quote the reference number previously provided and advise whether they need to extend time or are logging out of the system having completed their job safely. Details are always reconfirmed and, if advising of a time extension, location updates will be made as necessary.

If a worker doesn’t log out

If a worker fails to log out within the timeframe quoted, an escalation process commences. Depending on your preferences, contact with the worker can first be attempted via SMS or outbound phone call. Alternatively, specified contacts can be notified immediately.

During an escalation process, text messages will be sent and/or outbound calls made at agreed time intervals until notification that the message has been received.

Additional charges apply for SMS.

Lone worker service FAQs

Have questions relating to lone worker safety monitoring? Browse these common questions and get in touch if you don’t find the answer you need.

Yes, 100% of calls are answered in Australia as all of Vodafone Business Answering’s remote receptionists and call centre agents are based in Australia.

Concurrent calls to your advertised business number can easily be answered by our remote receptionists. This alone can potentially prevent many of your current missed calls.

Being only able to answer one call at a time in-house means many business owners don’t even realise how many calls they’ve been missing.

Depending on your service type, and the complexity of the change, changes to your services are able to be made through your online Vodafone Business Answering client portal.

Alternatively, we have a dedicated rostering team who are able to manage your roster as per the frequency of your rotation.

Within all lone worker services, the following are requested on all calls:

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Location
  • Expected duties

Receptionists can request any other information, based on your company’s specific requirements.

Other information commonly requested within a lone worker service includes:

  • Location travelling from and to
  • Vehicle registration number
  • Staff member’s department
  • Satellite phone number

Any time one of your staff members has an active login, there will be an open escalation in our system. Should your staff member not contact the service prior to the expiration of the nominated timeframe of their login, our receptionists will be notified that action is required. They will then immediately start to escalate the login through your stipulated process (a set phone out, SMS and/or email procedure as outlined within your requirements).

Yes. Call log reports are updated in real-time and accessible via your online portal. Additionally, email reports outlining each of the steps taken for all lone worker activity can be scheduled daily, weekly or monthly.
