Our Reconciliation Action Plan

At TPG Telecom, we are committed to building better futures for First Nations peoples, customers and communities, and continuing our journey towards reconciliation. We believe everyone has a role to play in creating equity and opportunities for First Nations People, the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we operate.

That’s why we’re partnering with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Reconciliation Australia to make a real difference for customers, employees and society.

The successful completion of our first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in 2021 prepared us to engage in reconciliation meaningfully and to establish a foundational level of understanding and respect for our nation’s history and culture across our workforce.

The next phase of our journey is the endorsement of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (2024-2026). This will take our commitment to the next level by engaging our people and stakeholders in reconciliation and developing and piloting innovative strategies to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our Innovate RAP outlines the initiatives we will deliver over the next two years, driving us closer to our vision for reconciliation. Some of the key focuses include:

  • Embracing truth telling to listen and learn from the past histories and experiences of the Traditional Custodians of the lands where we operate
  • Building meaningful, genuine and reciprocal relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities
  • Recognising, respecting and celebrating cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Driving an inclusive and culturally safe workplace that removes barriers, creates opportunities and celebrates the diverse skills, perspectives and insights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • Playing our part in reducing the digital divide for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
  • Leveraging our procurement scope and sphere of influence to enable economic participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses

The TPG Telecom RAP Artwork ‘Listening to Land – Connecting to Country’ was produced in 2021 through TPG Telecom’s first Reflect RAP, and is about listening to how the land and Country are communicating to us and how we respond. How do you listen to the land? How do you connect with Country, how does culture play a part in your life?

Indigenous artist, Riki Salam, was born and raised in Cairns on Yidinji Land connected to the Torres Strait and Yalanji Country on his Father’s side and Ngai Tahu, South Island of New Zealand, on his Mother’s side. Riki works and produces his art in pen, ink, gouache, acrylic and using digital technologies. He enjoys exploring concepts of traditional culture in a contemporary format.
